Being yourself isn't always easy, interpret this message as you will, but if you surround yourself with a strong support system, all of a sudden being yourself isn't scary, it just comes naturally.
In today’s society the term ‘be yourself’ has taken on a whole new meaning. In my mind being yourself is defined by how you choose to express who you are as a person.

In high school one of the teachers used to come in every day in the most eccentric colorful outfits. In the hallways you could hear people poking fun about her outfits and it never sat well with me. You know what? When I walked into a room where she was teaching, that explosion of color really made me feel alive, happy, and excited. Her outfits were an exterior representation of who she was. Bright, bubbly, and outgoing.
When I went off to college I met another person who expressed themselves in some wild all black outfits. My favorite outfit was a slinky black dress paired with a shear cape and the most beautiful black knee high platform shoes and they rocked it! They threw off this captivating, confident, sexy, artistic vibe that I wanted to reach out and take into the palm of my hand. Theses are just a couple expressions of people simply being themselves and not caring what other people have to say about it because it is who they are.
"Your uniqueness is what makes you special, it is what makes you different, it is what makes you YOU."
Being yourself and expressing it is not something that is easy to do, no one said it was. What you have to remember is that your uniqueness is what makes you special, it is what makes you different, it is what makes you YOU. This world will try and tell you who you can or can’t be, don’t let it.
We are not all made by the same mold, we are made up of so many different parts, backgrounds, atmospheres, and stories, no one story could possibly be the same. Embrace your own style, make your own mark on the world, you don’t need to make huge changes in your life to start expressing who you are.
You have to be yourself. Don’t let other people take that away from you. You have a picture to paint in front of you, are you going to paint it? Or are you going to let the world around you paint it for you?
