Are You Happy?

Today’s Topic:

  • Is where you are...

  • What you are doing…

  • Where you are going…

  • Who you are with…

…making you happy?

If you think about your life, right now. Are you happy?

Let’s use going to college as an example. The advice we discuss can be applied to any part of your life; college is just the idea.

Imagine yourself coming up on your junior or senior year of college (3rd or 4th year). You find yourself going through the daily motions;

  • You get up and get dressed for class

  • You pack up your textbooks and notebooks

  • You head out the door

  • You sit in class for an hour then move on to the rest of your courses

  • You go to the dining hall and find yourself picking at your food not paying attention to the conversations around you

  • While you are sitting there you find yourself thinking;

- Am I doing the right thing?

- Is this what I want?

- Is this the major I want to be in?

- Do I even want to be here?

If you are finding yourself saying no to any of these questions or having to really think about it and still not coming up with an answer. Then ask yourself this.

Am I happy?

If you aren’t doing something that instantly makes you excited for the next day, something that keeps you motivated to work harder every single day, if you aren’t doing something that strikes a passion inside of you, more than likely you aren’t in the right place.

Sometimes it is difficult to own up to ourselves that after all of this hard work and time put into the things we are doing, they simply aren’t good for us, it isn’t what we want anymore.

To reach the heights you want to in life, as big or as simple as they may be, what is the point of anything if your passion for it is nonexistent?

We are constantly learning more about ourselves and growing as people. Our interests change, the things we like change, the things we once saw ourselves doing for the rest of our lives change.

And that’s okay.

If it isn’t making you happy, you need to change it. There may be external reasons as to why we feel like we can’t change what we are doing. Be it your families approval, your friends, your mentors, or the idea of changing where you are now is uncertain and you are afraid.

Fear is good! Be afraid, but don’t let it stop you. You have one life to live, do you want to tell people 15, 20, 50 years from now that you spent your entire life regretting not doing something? No.

So, if you want to do something different, make a change in your life but you worry about what will happen to the people close to you? Acknowledge that, but then remind yourself;

  • The people who will support you. They are the ones who matter.

  • If someone doesn’t support you, they can bug off and move on.

This is Your Life! Not there’s.

If you are still afraid then you need to think about what kind of legacy, you are leaving behind.

Do you want to be remembered as someone who settled early and didn’t pursue their own dreams, and only talked about them?

Or, do you want to be remembered as someone who went after what they wanted? Someone who strived to reach their dreams no matter what anyone else said, who defied the odds and took their life into their own hands and made something of themselves? Someone who was happy and content with the way their life turned out?

That decision is ultimately up to you. But you have more strength than you realize, So, do not settle. Make your own decisions. Be who YOU want to be, and don’t let anything hold you back.

Thank you so much for reading kRazy kAtz, stay true to yourselves and follow your dreams, as big or as small as they may seem, they are yours. Keep on sparkling!

Much love…
